ghostbusters-logoThe 30th Anniversary of Ghostbusters is upon us!  The Nerds discuss how Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis supposedly came up with the idea for the 1984 Cult classic.  They then move onto the Saturday morning cartoon which was spawned from the movie.  With the loss of Harold Ramis, is Ghostbusters 3 still possible?  After 30 years, The Nerds take the rose-colored glasses off and look for plot holes in the film.  How does the movie look from the point of the  E.P.A. guy?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERABen went to a Main Event Entertainment and played some pool, shuffleboard, bowling, and also partook in some arcade games!  What kind of games make up and arcade these days?  Is skee-ball considered an arcade game?  Are there more ticket-spitting games than ever before?  Does getting the high score matter than much any more?

whysoseriousWarner Brothers have set forth a “No Joke” policy for all upcoming DC movies.  Already at a disadvantage compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is this a wise move for Warner Brothers?  Can the more serious, gritty outlook exemplified in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy work for DC Cinematic Universe?  How does a darker tone work for Superman? Wonder Woman? Or even Justice League?

the-tick-is-it-time-for-a-tick-movieThe rumor is that Patrick Warburton could be in talks to take up his previous role of “The Tick” in a newly revived series being produced by Amazon.  The most interesting thing about it is how Amazon is approaching the revival of the series.  Could this be the next step in evolution in producing new television programming?  Will they take away the risk of producing new content?

The-Multiversity-1-720x1107In the return of The Weekly Comic Book Review, The Nerds take a look at The Multiversity #1, the new book written by Grant Morrison with art by Ivan Reis.  When the DC multiverse is threatened, a group of heroes is collected from across the multiverse to help save creation, including Captain Carrot.  Glenn and Kristi seem a bit off put by the title.  It might be up to Ben to help prevent a literary blood bath!

THE FIRST LIVE BROADCAST from the new Nerdville Studios!

Due to some technical issues with the new studio, you are in for a special treat!  While Ben flips out and tries to get us on-air, Thaddeus, Glenn, and Kristi discuss a world without and before the internet existed.  Exclusive to The Nerd Show Rewind!

The Show begins in the aftermath of The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!  Check out the video here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FlPxdhur3k!

Drug Abuse GamersThe Nerds discuss substance abuse in professional gaming.  Glenn came across an article during the week involving reports of “doping” in professional gaming.  How is this even possible since the stereotype of “doping” and substance abuse is mostly attached to sports?  Aside from “Gamer Fuel” such as energy drinks, what type of prescription and/or illegal drugs are being used by professional gamers?  The Nerds talk the dangers of abusing such drugs.  With a fledgling governing body over some gaming leagues, could testing or even a set of rules be set down to begin to supply oversight to this growing problem?  Is an overall governing body necessary?  Would it be practical or even feasible?

Star-Wars-LogoThe Nerds dive into a thought provoking Star Wars discussion.  What was the real reason the Empire built the Death Star?  Was it meant to end The Clone Wars?  To instill fear once the Imperial Senate was dissolved?  Or perhaps the Emperor foresees the coming Yuuzhan Vong invasion and was preparing for it?

Death StarAfter the break, The Nerds return to the topic asking if a fully equipped Empire complete with Death Star(s) would have been better to handle the galaxy wide invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong than the New Republic?  If the Rebellion hadn’t happened, how many Death Stars would the Empire had to combat the invasion?

Kristen McGuireLong time friend of the show, manga artist, author, and voice actress, Kristen McGuire takes time away from her busy weekend to sit down and talk about the end of her manga series, “Enchanted.”  We talk about the type of preparation that is involved for an artist to make a trip to a convention and how one prepares pieces for an artist auction.  Finally, we touch on the projects she has on the horizon and finally which anime series she has lent her voice to over the past few years!  Be sure to keep up with Kristen by visiting her website, http://www.kriscomics.com!  You can become a fan on facebook at Kris Comics – Art by Kristen McGuire and follow her on twitter, @KrisComics!

TMNT 2014 PosterThe Nerds rip the band aid off and discuss the new Michael Bay produced Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.  Some nerds refuse to even see the film.  Are they justified in their refusal?  The movie itself; how well are the turtles portrayed?  How well did Megan Fox do as April O’Neil?  Was their ever a scene where she didn’t breathe through her mouth?  Is the Shredder believable?  Will Arnet as Vern?  What did The Nerds find surprising about the film?

Gamer FrustrationHave you ever experienced gamer frustration?  Kristi is currently playing a game called Dark Souls.  It’s a game that openly flaunts its own difficulty.  It raises the question of how hard can be a game before it becomes too difficult to play and enjoy?  What kind of gamer frustration do you experience?  Not enough checkpoints or save options?  Too many cutscenes?  Not being able to skip cutscenes?  Does gamer frustration affect how you play?  Is it just part of the gaming experience?

Marvel UniverseWith Guardians of The Galaxy and San Diego Comic Con fresh on their minds, The Nerds talk about the state of the Marvel cinematic and comic book universes.  The new female Thor coming to the comic book universe.  Does she or does she not affect Chris Hemsworth as Thor in the cinematic universe?  Was is the buzz about Ant-Man and phase three of the cinematic universe?  What is the speculation on the ultimate conclusion of the Marvel cinematic universe?
